FOOSA CHINA TOUR WINTER 19-20
The FOOSA Philharmonic is Traveling to China This Winter! Can You Join Us?
This is an entirely new adventure! Monday December 23, 2019—Sunday January 5, 2020
FOOSA Philharmonic has been invited on a national tour of China, with 6-8 concerts exclusively in major concert halls across the country. Best of all, sponsors have covered more than half the cost of this 13-night tour!
Tour repertoire includes Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, Tchaikovsky Suite from Swan Lake, Strauss Overture to Die Fledermaus, and of course some Viennese waltzes to ring in the new year!
Past FOOSA participants and all interested pre-professional and professional musicians are encouraged to audition for the limited seats performing alongside the world-class FOOSA Faculty.

Dates: Monday, December 23, 2019 to Sunday, January 5, 2020. Cost to participants is $1,995. Airfare from your home city to China and back, all domestic transportation, top-quality hotels, three meals a day, sightseeing, and of course the amazing experience of a national tour to many of China's greatest concert venues will all be included in this low price.
We will make our selections based on applications received by September 15. If we need additional instrumentation, rolling admissions will continue until positions are filled.
A passport valid through July 15, 2020 will be required.
At this time, we do not expect to be able to offer scholarships, as all of the substantial sponsorship funds have been directed towards reducing everyone’s costs.
You will need to record a video in which you perform two contrasting pieces or movements (one lyrical, one more technical).* No professional videography is required. A video recorded with a smartphone or computer will be good enough.
Note: For the FOOSA Philharmonic we will accept players of the following orchestral instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute (piccolo), oboe, clarinet (E-flat, A, bass in addition to B-flat), bassoon (contra), French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, and harp. We will also be able to take one pianist!
*Those who play doubling instruments, please also record yourself performing two contrasting orchestral excerpts on those instruments. If you have any trouble uploading videos, or have additional questions, just contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
THE ENTIRE TOUR WILL TAKE PLACE IN CHINA.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS SEPTEMBER 15, 2019.
