Christopher Scherer, Half-Day String Program

 

Christopher Scherer has recently completed his Masters in violin performance at Carnegie Mellon University under the mentorship of Cyrus Forough. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Oregon, where he studied with Fritz Gearhart, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Wei He. He has participated in the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, Britt String Quartet Academy, the Icicle Creek Summer Music Festival, Marrowstone Summer Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Banff Pre-formed chamber residency, and has played in masterclasses with artists such as Pamela Frank, Jean Barr, Norman Fisher, Rodney Friend, and Yuzuko Horigome. Mr. Scherer has also won awards in competitions such as the Washington Idaho Symphony Young Artists Competition and Dorothy Van Wayen String Competition. Currently he is teaching and coaching for the Youth Orchestras of Fresno and for various school music programs in California’s Central Valley. He maintains a busy private studio as well.
