FOOSA Philharmonic

This is a pre-professional-level orchestra, intended for college-age musicians and advanced younger players. Participants will enjoy daily private lessons with our renowned faculty, daily sectionals and rehearsals, opportunities to perform in master classes and student recitals, the option of participating in our concerto competition (winner solos with the FOOSA Philharmonic), and of course the tour to Los Angeles to perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Typical day for FOOSA Phil (activities occur every day, including weekends):

9:00a-1:00p: individual lessons, rehearsals with accompanists, practice hours
1:00-2:30p: lunch break
2:30-3:30p: sectionals
4:00-6:00p: full-orchestra rehearsal

Participants enjoy dinner with their families or host families, or per arrangement on campus (for those staying in the dorms).

Student recitals, faculty recitals, some master classes, and the concerto competition preliminaries and finals are scheduled for after dinner, starting at 8:00pm.

Day One (Friday June 12) is just afternoon/evening, with auditions, a first read-through, welcome, and party, starting at 3pm.

The FOOSA Philharmonic will feature our guest artist faculty as principal players, performing side-by-side with participants. Faculty will also teach the daily private lessons and will run sectionals.

FOOSA Philharmonic members are eligible to participate in the FOOSA 2015 CONCERTO COMPETITION, vying for a chance to perform with the FOOSA Philharmonic in both the June 26 concert in Los Angeles and the June 28 concert in Fresno. Click here for more information.

The tour to Los Angeles is June 26-27, with the concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Friday June 26. Participants will stay at the Glendale Hilton. Final concert is Sunday June 28 at 4pm, Fresno State Concert Hall.
