FOOSA Symphony

This is a full symphony orchestra suitable for players in elementary through high school. Anyone is welcome to apply--audition videos will determine proper placement. Additional ensembles will be formed as needed to accommodate players of disparate levels.

Musicians accepted into this program enjoy daily group lessons with our outstanding faculty, as well as sectionals and orchestra/ensemble rehearsals. They will perform in student recitals and in the final concerts at Fresno State. Students in this program attend classes from 9am-1pm every day. There is no residential component of this program. FOOSA Symphony students may also opt to participate in master classes and workshops.

Typical day for FOOSA Symphony:

9:00-11:00a: group lessons and master classes
11:00-11:15a: break (light snacks)
11:15a-1:00p: sectionals and full-orchestra rehearsal

Symphony participants are welcome at all additional FOOSA activities each day. However, FOOSA cannot offer supervision after 1:00pm.

Student recitals, faculty recitals, some master classes, and the concerto competition preliminaries and finals are scheduled for after dinner, starting at 8:00pm.

Day One (Friday June 12) is just afternoon/evening, with auditions, a first read-through, welcome, and party, starting at 3pm. Final concert is Sunday June 28 at 4pm at Fresno State.
